Join Our Team
At Creative State, students don’t just complete class assignments—they collaborate on real-world projects for real clients. From nonprofits to corporate partners, our clients rely on us for meaningful creative work across public relations, multimedia design, digital storytelling, and more.
As part of the team, you’ll gain hands-on experience, work alongside faculty mentors, and build a portfolio that sets you apart. Whether you're a PR strategist or storyteller, a photographer or videographer, a designer or maker, there’s a place for you here.
Be one of the first to join Creative State by taking the Creative State Foundations course this Spring 2026!
The cross-listed course can be accessed as COM 270: “PR Principles and Practices” or as IMM 270 “Design Principles and Practices.”
Course Description
This course provides an immersive introduction to professional practices in both public relations and design, preparing students for hands-on client work in the Creative State studio/agency through the subsequent upper level course. Through a combination of readings, case studies, guest presentations, and collaborative exercises, students explore how design and PR intersect to create campaigns that are engaging, ethical, and impactful. The course emphasizes agency culture, workflows, collaboration, client communication, research and ethnography, strategic messaging, storytelling, and integrated campaign development. Students engage with real-world examples from nonprofit, community, and large-scale campaigns; practice presenting and advocating for their concepts; and develop a final client-informed project that demonstrates their ability to synthesize design and PR principles while reflecting the values of a community-focused agency/studio.
